What is a caption?
A caption is a short piece of text that follows visual media and gives additional explanation about them.
Captions provide information to readers to complete the picture and is required as part of accepted journalistic practice. It provides context, establishes credibility and promotes better engagement.
A caption answers the question who, what, when, where and why about the picture and includes credit for the photographer.
Practice 1:
Read out these two captions (text 1 and text 2) loudly and meaningfully and take a note on your notebook if you find some words that you do not understand. Then consult the dictionary.

Language Features of Caption Text
A caption text is written in present tense and active voice. Don't forget to include credit for the photographer of the picture.
Caption often uses prepositional, infinitive, adjectival and present participle phrases.
Present participles are similar to gerund. Both have the same form (verb-ing), but have different functions. A gerund acts like a noun while a present participle acts like a verb or adjective.
