C H A P T E R  1


Descriptive text is a text that clearly describes the characteristics attached to something, be it humans, animals, plants or inanimate objects. The purpose of this text is to provide clear information about the object being described.


Features of  feature Descriptive text:


Using Noun

Using specific principle nouns, such as my cat, my swain, monument. In addition, often also use adjectives to clarify the use of nouns or nouns, such as a giant house, a sensible student, associate degree independence lady.


Using action verbs

Using the verb principle indicates an activity or an activity the principle can be seen. For example, sleep, walk, sing, dance, and others


Using Simple Present Tense

Using the basic verb or the first form (verb 1) and using the verb principle can show the ownership or state of an object.



Descriptive Text Structure

Descriptive text has its own rules regarding its structure. The following is a descriptive generic structure text:


Identification

This section, located in the first paragraph, aims to identify an object to be described. Identification serves to introduce the reader to the object that we will explain, before we tell about the object in more detail in the next paragraph.


Description

This section, located in the second paragraph and so on, contains the characteristics inherent in something that you have introduced to the reader in the first paragraph

Borobudur



Borobudur is the largest temple in Indonesia. Candi Borobudur is located in Magelang, Central Java, in addition to being a bustling tourist attraction, is also a center of worship for Buddhists in Indonesia, especially in every celebration of Vesak. This is consistent with the meaning of its name is “monastery in the hills”. Borobudur is currently designated as one of the UNESCO World Heritage.

Borobudur was built around 800 BC or 9th century. Borobudur was built by the followers of the Mahayana agamaBuddha during the reign of the Sailendra dynasty. This temple was built in the heyday of the Sailendra dynasty. Borobudur founder, King Samaratungga from dynastic or Sailendra dynasty. The possibility of this temple was built around 824 AD and was completed around the year 900 AD during the reign of Queen Pramudawardhani who is the daughter of Samaratungga. The word Borobudur itself by first written evidence written by Sir Thomas Stamford Raffles, the Governor General of Great Britain in Java, which gave the name of this temple. There is no written evidence that older who gave it the name Borobudur temple. The only documents that indicate the existence oldest temple is Nagarakretagama book, which was written by MPU Prapanca in 1365. In the book written that the temple was used as a place of Buddhist meditation.

The meaning of the name Borobudur “monastery in the hills”, which is derived from the word “bara” (temple or monastery) and “beduhur” (hills or high place) in Sanskrit. Therefore, in accordance with the meaning of the name Borobudur, then this place since it was used as a place of Buddhist worship.

This temple for centuries no longer used. Then because of volcanic eruptions, most of the buildings covered Borobudur volcanic soil. In addition, the building is covered with trees and shrubs for centuries. Then the building of this temple began to be forgotten in the days of Islam arrived in Indonesia around the 15th century.

In 1814 when the British occupied Indonesia, Sir Thomas Stamford Raffles heard of the discovery of giant archaeological object in the village Bumisegoro Magelang. Due to the great interest the history of Java, then immediately ordered Raffles HC Cornelius, a Dutch engineer, to investigate the discovery of the location it is a hill covered with shrubs.

Cornelius assisted by about 200 men cut down trees and remove shrubs that covered the giant building. Because the building is already fragile and could collapse, then report to the Raffles Cornelius invention includes several images. Because of the discovery, Raffles was honored as the person who started the restoration of Borobudur and got the attention of the world. In 1835, the entire area of ​​the temple has been excavated. Types of Description Text


Descriptive text can be developed into 3 types of text, namely spatial, subjective and objective descriptive text.

Subjective descriptive text. A descriptive text in which the object is described based on the impression that the author of the paragraph has.

Spatial description text. In this descriptive text, the objects described are only objects, places, spaces and so on.

Objective descriptive text. In this descriptive text an explanation of the object described as it is based on the actual state of the object, so that the reader can imagine the situation without any additional opinion from the author himself.

The Komodo Island



The island of Komodo is a part of the Lesser Sunda chain of the Indonesian islands. The island is particularly notable as the home of the giant monitor lizard, often called the Komodo dragon. It lies on the Sape Strait between Flores and Sumbawa islands and has an area of approximately 520 square km.


The Komodo Island is also a part of Komodo National Park area, managed by the Central Government. There is one village, called Komodo village, with a population of over two thousand people. They live side by side with Komodo dragons within the park. Most of them make a living by selling souvenirs, guiding the tourists, and renting boats for tourists. Only a small percentage of them work as a fisherman.


The Komodo Island is one of few remaining areas which are inhabited by Komodo dragons. They are endangered species and protected by the law in Indonesia. They roam wild over the island. They may grow up to 3 meters long, weigh up to 135 kg, and can live up to 100 years. Regularly, the park official supply goat and pig carcasses to attract these giant lizards to viewing areas for tourists. It is known that about 1,000 of the Komodo dragons live on the Komodo Island and another 1,000 live on the neighboring island of Rinca.

Procedure is a text that contains a way to do something precisely, in the form of a sequence of steps, so that the desired goal is achieved.


 The characteristics of procedure text that can distinguish it from other texts include:


1. Using imperative/command sentences 

2. There is a guide to do 

3. Using active verb 

4. Using conjunctions to show the order 

5. There are rules in terms of materials or activities 



Purpose of Procedure Text


Procedure text aims to make it easier for readers and listeners to follow the steps or instructions from the content of the text whose final destination can be according to the wishes of the reader and listener

How to Make Donuts



Donuts are famous for having a unique shape. Yep, that's right. There is a hole in the middle, aka the cake is circular like a ring. Now to make donuts, you can follow the steps of the following procedure text.


Tools and materials:

  • Plastic gloves
  • Receptacle
  • Mixer
  • Stirrer
  • Oil
  • Pan
  • 400 gr wheat flour
  • 40 gr full cream milk powder
  • 10 gr instant yeast
  • 900 gr powdered sugar
  • 65 gr butter
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 4 egg yolks
  • Cold water (ice) to taste

1.First, put the flour, milk powder, instant yeast, and sugar into the container. Then stir until smooth.


2.Second, add cold water and egg yolk. Then mix by hand and knead until the dough is smooth.


3.When it's smooth, add salt and butter and mix with your hands until it's smooth.


4.After that let the dough rest for 20 minutes.

The dough that has been set aside earlier, is then formed into a circle like a ring. After that, let it rest for 20 minutes until the dough expands.


5.The next step is heating the oil over medium heat. After that fry the donuts until the color turns brown, then drain.


Top the donuts, and the donuts are ready to be served.

How to do rope jumping

How to Use a Computer



In this modern era, many people use computers. Computers are electronic devices that manipulate information or data. Computers are capable of storing, retrieving, and processing data. 1.Before plug of powering up the computer system, make sure that the power cable is connected to the back panel of the CPU and is plugged into the electric socket.

3.Make sure other devices such as mouse and keyboard have connected to the back panel of CPU in the right side. Other hardware can also be connected such as speaker, printer, and so forth.


4.When everything is plugged in securely, then press the power button on the CPU is usually located on the front panel of the CPU.


5.The computer will display the Windows logo and displays the desktop image.


6.Once the desktop image appears then the computer is ready to operate.


7.The proper way to shut down or turn off the computer system is by clicking on the ‘Start’ button and choosing the ‘Turn Off Computer’ option. This then will display the options to ‘Standby’, ‘Restart’, or ‘Turn Off’ the CPU. Click ‘Turn Off’ to turning off the computer.
